Povatica (Nut Roll Coffee Cake)

cakes yeast
1/2
cup liquid shortening
2/3
cups sugar
1/2
teaspoon salt

cups milk, scalded
2
eggs, beaten
7 1/2
cups flour
 

Mix all ingredients together and knead lightly with flour.  Place in large bowl, grease and grease, and let double. Divide dough into 2 pieces; roll out each to ¼ inch thickness.

Filling (make twice)

cups ground walnuts

Tablespoon flour

egg
2/3
cup sugar
1/2
teaspoon vanilla

Tablespoon milk

Tablespoon Cinnamon

Tablespoon butter or oleo
(or to taste)
 

Spread mixture over dough.  Roll up as a jelly roll along long edge of rectangle.  Place on a well greased sheet in a horseshoe shape and let rise 1 hour. Bake at 350°F for about 35 minutes.  Rub with butter as it comes out of the oven.
