Comments: I too am a decendent of Stukely Westcott. As a child we attended all of the family reunions, but I can only recall bits and pieces. One thing I do remember is the Coat of Arms. My father had a jewelry box with the Westcott Coat of Arms Varnished upon the top of it. One of my most cherished memories as a child was sitting on his lap while he let me hold his jewelry box and telling me all about our family. I was suppose to get the box when he passed away and although he has not passed (thank goodness) I know that I will never see the jewelry box again as my Mother is mentally ill and will never allow it. My only hope is to get a copy of the Westcott Coat of Arms and recreate what I remember. I really like what you have done. Thank you for providing some history that I may be able to pass on to my children.

Comments: Bill I'm fascinated with all of your Wescott research, but it stops just short of my mother's grandfather, George I. Wescott born in Penobscot/Calais, MAINE. He was a blacksmith at the granite quarries on Hurricane Island, Penobscot Bay. Born 1841 and died at Prospect, Maine 1911. He married Sarah Harriman. After the island quarries closed he became a blacksmith in the reconstruction of Fort Knox in Prospect/Stockton Springs, ME. Thanks. Marlyn

Comments: I am looking for information on Captain William Westcott's military career during the War of 1812. Would be glad to exchange information; I have many details of his military career (which was inglorious, even ignominious) and his sea-going career (also not good.) Are there any old family papers or photos/portraits still existing? This man appears in my doctoral research about Maine in the War of 1812.
