James Wescott was born in Gorham, Cumberland County, Maine, September 12, 1793. He Married Doecus Libbey on April 30 1815 in Standish, Cumberland County, Maine. According to the Calvin Day & Nathaniel Willis Portland Newspapers, James married Dorcas in Gorham (10 May 1815 newspaper). According to the History of Gorham, Maine by Hugh D. McLellan James lived on the David Swett farm near Little Falls Maine. He left Maine in the 1850's and moved to the new territory of Minnesota along with his sons James and Wells L. After his wife Docus Libbey died he married Hannah Hanson. According to the information that we have James died in Minnesota. There is a head stone for him and his second wife Hannah Hanson at Hillside Cemetery, Gorham, Cumberland County, Maine in the Hanson family plot. |
